Amy Poehler at the 92|Y

Loved her ragging on the balcony, and knowing that she and Adam Scott went to the movies to see Rock of Ages before the talk yesterday. Also was so awesome hearing backstage stories from SNL, and learning that she & Tiny Fey have done some terrible improv scenes.

Just listening to her in conversation, makes you want to be her best friend. She is so warm, open, and genuine…and of course, hilarious.

Some inspirational thoughts from last night:

If you love something, keep doing it. If you don’t love it, stop.

Say Yes. In life and in improv.

Be open, and be vulnerable.

Don’t do it all alone. In fact, only surround yourself with those people who love you and support you.

Take risks.

Fun fact!

My parents (kind of) named me after this character! They loved him so much in the original show they wanted a J.R. in the family. They also adored Jenna Wade, played by Priscilla Presley. I showed up and made their dreams a reality! (Jenna Raynell… in case you’ve forgotten who’s blog you’re reading)

So there you have it. Origins of my name (and perhaps the earliest signs of my future occupation).

To quote my predecessor:
